Pass the meat through a meat grinder. Wash the rice at least 5 times to get rid of the starch that glues the grains together. Place a pot of water on the fire to cook the cereal. Peel the vegetables and wash them. Grate the carrots and chop the cabbage thinner. Remove the butter from the refrigerator until it becomes soft. Advice. It is best to chop the cabbage using a food processor. This way it will lose its dense parts. In the classic recipe, minced meat is prepared from two types of meat: beef and pork. Bring the rice until half cooked. Cut the onion into half rings.
Prepare the roast. Place only the carrots in a hot frying pan with vegetable or olive oil, as they take longer to cook. Once it becomes soft, add onion to it. Sauté over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly so that the vegetables cook evenly.
Make the base for the cabbage rolls. Place rice, minced meat, finely shredded cabbage and half of the sautéed vegetables in a deep bowl. Salt, pepper, add garlic and mix thoroughly with your hands. Add soft butter and mix again.
Prepare the cabbage rolls. Form cutlets from the prepared minced meat. You can give them any shape (oval, round). Place cabbage rolls in a baking dish.
Prepare the sauce. In a bowl, mix tomato paste with sour cream and water. Season with salt and pepper. Stir to obtain a homogeneous mass.
Bake in the oven. Pour the sauce over the top of the cabbage rolls in a thin stream. Place in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 60 minutes.
The cabbage rolls can be cut in half and placed in any order, diluting the empty space on the plate with fresh vegetables. Serve with sour cream.
