Americans like to fry small marshmallows at a picnic, not potatoes, as in Russia. Initially, this dessert was used for the same purposes as, for example, marmalade. But in the 90s of the 20th century, someone tried to put it in coffee. This tradition has stuck. Today you can add marshmallows not only to espresso, but also to Americano, latte and even cappuccino.
