Green onions
The green beam is the upper, aboveground part of the plants of the Amarillis family. Its taste is softer compared to the underground, onion part due to a greater concentration of sugar, proteins and ascorbic acid. Subtle flat or tubular leaves of pellot, hollow, Chinese or Welsh onions, and wild garlic can also be called green onions.
