Rice is long -grade - the collective name of rice varieties with an elongated grain. Basmati, Kamarg, Jasmine, Patan - all these are varieties of long -grain rice. Rice refers to the genus of herbaceous plants of the cereal family, the subspecies of Oryza Sativa Indica. The word "rice" comes from the Italian Riso and goes back to the ancient Indian vrihis.
