Pearl barley
Perlvaya Kryá (aka Pearl)-Group of Barley, oblong grains of light yellow color. Porridge, side dishes and soups are made from pearl barley. There are two versions of the origin of the name of this cereal. According to the first, it came from the French word Perle - “pearls”, since the grains are similar to it in shape and color. According to the second version-from the root of the “first”, which is in the words “burst out”, “overpass” and others. That is, something that increases repeatedly, like pearl barley when cooking.
