Margarine is a fat emulsion product. It is produced from animal fats and vegetable oils with the addition of water, salt, sugar, emulsifiers, aromatizers, preservatives and vitamins. It is permissible to use fish oil. The Greek word margaros is translated as a "mother of pearl."
