Residents of Turkey are sure that their country is the birthplace of kebab. And in confirmation of this they cite the story of Alexander the Great. It says that during one of his military campaigns the commander prepared Iskander kebab according to the traditional recipe: he placed thinly sliced lamb on a flatbread and poured yogurt over it. To prepare real lula kebab at home, you only need minced beef. To prevent the meat from becoming dry, lard is added to it.
